We are grateful to have a team of 82 active masons with whom we work to build homes. Their dedication to the cause is marked by the quality of work they do, striving to provide adequate housing for some 500 families annually, even as their own families live in inadequate conditions. We carried out an internal investigation into the living conditions of our masons, which showed that 44% need a home of their own and 56% need improvements in their homes. There is also a lack of land tenure among them, 60% do not have a registered land, although they are already living there, and 45% need to buy land, plus the construction of their home.
For this reason, Habitat El Salvador is committed to improving the quality of life for at least 60 masons and their families, through the provision of housing solutions and home improvements. This project also seeks to strengthen the technical construction capacities of the beneficiaries, as well as their identity with Habitat El Salvador.
